Garry is a registered Architect in the State of New York, Illinois and Wisconsin. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1998 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. Following graduation Garry moved to New York City and spent the following 7 years working with the design firms of Asfour Guzy Architects,  and Lichten Craig Architects. Following an expansion of Lichten Craig Architects in 2005 to Chicago,  he continued working with custom residential clients along the North Shore and Gold Coast. 

Garry joined his wife of 10 years at the offices of Stuart Cohen and Julie Hacker Architects LLC, where he continued to practice high-end custom residential architecture. 

While in New York and continuing in Chicago Garry has been the project architect for various scales of high quality residential, restaurant and retail projects. Throughout his career he and his wife Suzanne, have continued to expand and build upon their own consulting practice which began in Brooklyn NY,  with landmark storefronts and high end retail spaces. Garry remains focused on thoughtful residential remodeling, landmark storefronts and a wide range of restaurant, commercial build-outs,  project management and consulting.

Garry served as Chair on the Evanston Landmark's Preservation Commission for six years, He was a member of the Harley Clarke Committee, the Viaduct Advisory Committee, board of trustees at Chiaravalle Montessori School and the Evanston Youth Hockey Association.

He currently on the Masterplanning Committee for Chiaravalle Montessori.

S U Z A N N E S H U M A K E R

P R I N C I P A L Director of Interiors, Interior Photographer.

Suzanne has worked in the New York office of Page Ayers Cowely & Theodore H.M. Prudone Architects where she focused on remodeling historic homes and places of worship in the city and along the Hudson River. She later joined Russell Riccardi Architect, on the Upper East Side, remodeling timeless and elegant pre-war apartments and town homes around Central Park.

After moving to Chicago, Suzanne worked for the office of Stuart Cohen & Julie Hacker Architects and Paul Janicki Architects. There she collaborated on house additions and new homes along the North Shore. 

She received her Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Kentucky with a minor in Interior Design. While at the University of Kentucky she studied abroad in Istanbul, and later in Berlin under Daniel Liebeskind.

Photography is part of her daily work as well. She documents the design work for her practice, and can often be found volunteering with her camera at hand, from photographing a typical day in her kids Montessori classroom to the graduation ceremony or shooting fundraising events to benefit St.Baldrick’s Foundation, a non-profit to help children and young adult fight cancer.

She served on the 2020 and 2021 planning committee for Thrive, a benefit for Connections for the Homeless. She is a True 100 Ambassador, and committee member for the Evanston North Shore, YWCA. And a board of trustees, and Chair of the Development Committee at Chiaravalle Montessori School, Evanston, IL.

Project Architect, RA.

Kurt has over 20 years managing his own architectural practice, specializing in custom residential homes and additions along the North Shore. His design expertise encompass a wide range of architectural styles, from preserving historic homes to applying green design strategies.

Prior to opening his own practice he worked for Harry Weese Associates and Cordogon Clark and Associates on commercial architecture, including the Swiss Air first class lounge, O’hare.

Kurt is a licensed architect in the State of Illinois. He received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign.

Outside of work, Kurt is a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, enjoys making furniture, playing golf and volleyball.


Gabe Adducci

Project Manager/Designer

Gabe graduated with a specialization in Architecture in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Gabe loves to create, from designing buildings to writing songs to drawing and painting. Architecture speaks to him because of the creativity it requires to blend the two aspects of art and problem solving to produce a beautiful yet functional building.

B R I A N P E T R O N E

Project Architect, RA.

Brian Petrone is a licensed architect with 25 years of experience in residential, cultural, and institutional projects. He received a Bachelor of Science in Technology from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Architecture from Syracuse University. Brian worked in the New York City office of Gruzen Samton Architects, focusing on secondary school construction. In the Los Angeles office of Osborn, he was a project manager for both residential and institutional work. Brian ran his own practice in Evanston for 10 years, specializing in residential additions and renovations.  

An avid sculptor, Brian’s artistic work takes cues from the buildings that he designs, incorporating stone, concrete, wood, and plaster. He has participated in group shows across the United States and his work was recently featured in a solo show in Rochester, New York. Brian has been a volunteer basketball and soccer coach for more than a decade.

T. Scott Collier

Project Architect, RA, NCARB.

Scott's experience encompasses everything from Lab design to Retail work.

Prior to Shumaker Design, Scott worked at Dirk Denison Architects, where he participated on the design of several custom single family homes and art studios.

Scott is licensed in Wisconsin. He received his Master of Architecture degree from Illinois Institute of Technology, and his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at Purdue University.

Outside of work, Scott enjoys playing bocce, designing furniture, and volunteering with a local community food bank.
